I'm Traveling with my Dad. September 10 2020
That's what the forest service man suggested when I stopped at the same gas station as he. Ha ha ha -- Russ didn't think it was funny but I did. Of course he was kidding but I enjoyed a chuckle.
We left our RV camp spot in Bearmouth after I got a shower -- never know when you will get another so have to take advantage every one you see.
Again, I was struck by how teeny, tiny the shower stalls are in these RV parks. I swear they couldn't give us 2 more inches? I don't consider myself large so I have no idea how a large person would fit into one of these. Here in Montana, I guess a handicapped shower just means that there is a bar on the outside of the stall. Can you picture that? You are falling and you reach outside of the stall to grab the bar to save yourself from What? They weren't any larger (I checked), and there were no stools to sit on. The other thing is there is this little tiny shelf to put ALL of your shower stuff on in the stall. I dare anyone to put shampoo, body wash (or soap) and a razor on the shelf. I actually was struck on the head by the falling body wash bottle and almost passed out.
Well, I used the handicapped stall and I was grateful because it made it easier to get my pants on without soaking them in the water on the floor. The other thing the proprietors could improve on is by giving that little mat outside the shower just 2 more inches. Yes I do have size 10 feet . . . . but you get the picture.
Well, I didn't mean to make this a blog on shower stalls but there you have it!!
We drove 50 miles to Georgetown Lake. We arrived a bit before noon and had a lot of spaces to chose from. It is now 5:44 pm and I'm glad we got here when we did. The place is filling up. This is a USFS campground and for us as seniors with the pass it is $8 per night. After paying $38 per night at a RV park for just electricity and water -- no view, lots of cars on the highway just outside the park, trains all night and lots of neighbors, this is the ritz and the deal of the century. This campground has room for big RV's too which isn't always the case. There is an approximately 36' motor home parked in the campsite right across from us.
Here we will stay until Sunday morning when we will head out towards Wisdom, MT. Here is a picture of one of our neighbors -- just another reason I like these campgrounds. You would not find this in a commercial RV park.
So true! I love National Forest Campgrounds!
