Just another SNAFU. August 15, 2020 Coeur d'alene, ID
After a nice little run this morning
The plan was to head up to Sand Point to visit with a couple of friends. We were going sans trailer because we knew we would have trouble getting a spot up there and well, why not just stay in this beautiful spot? Well, best laid plans . . . you get it, a light came on the dashboard about 5 miles out of town and after some research it was decided that we were going to have to get to a chevy dealer (notice no capital "C") to fix some emissions control thing before going on.
The government has made it clear that we will not be able to go any further with an F'd up emission control system -- they give you 95 miles before they start to slow your truck down. They call it "limp mode." Talk about "Big Brother," or should we call it "governor?"
Oh well, enough about that. We will be okay and at least we have this great spot that we are only paying $11.50 a night (the good side of government). We got in touch with a truck dealer, they have the part and will fit us in on Monday. Good thing it happened near a bigger city, huh?
So we came back to the trailer, and had a relaxing afternoon. So now we have had 3 things go wrong: the AC on the truck, the furnace in the trailer and the emissions control system on the truck. Hoping that is all for this trip. We'll see . . . .
On another note, I have been reading a lot about the tourists in Truckee and Tahoe and what a mess everything is there. I want you all to know it is not just there. Here is a picture of some graffiti I was privileged to view. There are inconsiderate people everywhere. Additionally, in the middle of the forest where it is posted: "No Camping," you can see evidence of illegal campfires set -- in the most dangerous of places. Also lots of garbage and toilet paper (not unlike the Camino last year). There are irresponsible people everywhere.
Okay, I'm off my soap box for the night. Sleep tight you all and I'll check in with you tomorrow!!!
