Ceilidh likes Huckleberries. She doesn’t like cows. August 7, 2020
Have you ever picked huckleberries? Me neither. Didn’t even know what they looked like, much less what they taste like.
Ron and betsy Luke and Annie
We chatted for a bit. Got caught up. Then we left for huckleberry hunting. We went about a mile and a half up the hill and pulled up to the “secret spot." There we picked the itty bitty things for about 2 hours. All that work for about 3 cups of berries!! We chatted the entire time. It was good.
On our way back to the camp for lunch we followed a herd of cows. Two mamas who were again pregnant and 2 yearlings. They galloped down the road, afraid that we were going to run them over. Dummies.
Ceilidh loves to bark at those cows and there are plenty of them around here. In the middle of the night she gets going and I am sure it is cows and not a bear. The cows show up whenever they please, shuffling over to the side of the road and looking down at our campsite. You wonder what they think of us.
Oh yes, remember yesterday when we couldn’t get into the space I really wanted? The one that backs up to the creek? When we tried and tried and decided on another one, I said “well it’s got to be for a reason.” Well when we arrived back at camp after picking berries, sure enough there was a trailer there with 3 kids, a mom and dad. They had been cavorting in the creek and running their tricycles around the circle in front of us. Yes, there was the reason. These kids and their family are enjoying that space a ton more than we ever would have.
Tomorrow we will attempt to drive to Hell’s Canyon – should be exciting. Let you know.
Love your adventures, thanks for sharing
