Back on the Road! A/C and all! August 4, 2020
We vacated our beautiful campground this morning at 11 am and hit the road towards Idaho. The way we went, we passed through Oregon The scenery was amazing. Didn't get any pictures, sorry. It reminded me somewhat of the canyons of Arizona and Utah only not as colorful. There was lots of volcanic rock and beautiful formations.
We did stop in Jordan Valley for lunch. Found a park and let the dog run after a frisbee while we enjoyed the shade and a beer. Here are a couple of pictures.
Not really sure what the significance was of this bell but I thought it made a good picture. There was nothing there explaining what it was. Curious, huh?
This is the picture of the Rodeo Grounds in Jordan Valley. I thought of Jackie Wells when I took it. Looks like the what Truckee Rodeo grounds did a long time ago. Made me kinda nostalgic.
So tonight we are camped in a "civilized campground" in Boise. It is nice because it backs up to a running/biking path which I am anxious to use tomorrow morning. It is located close to Russ' friend that he will visit tomorrow and that is all good. That is about all it has going for it. We are all packed in here like sardines and I am ready to get out into the woods!!
One of the things I wanted to share with readers was my observation at the campground in Winnemuca. This campground was about 50% full-timers. There were people living there who had EVERYTHING they owned stuffed into their little campsite. The places that they lived were just so sad. One family had a pop out tent trailer covered with several tarps. I doubt very much that they had an air conditioner inside and the heat there was close to 100 degrees F. Outside their little home was a wagon that neatly held all of their child's toys. It made me so conflicted. On the one hand I am so grateful to have more than this but on the other hand, I feel guilty.
Tomorrow is a no move day. I'm staying home while Russ visits his buddy for a couple hours. Then we will go shopping to prepare for a trip to the woods.
One thing for sure. I'm tired of this heat. Oh, and here's another. I'm tired of COVID19.
