August 23, 2020 Sunday back into civilization
We broke camp this morning around 11:30 am but not before I got in a run. I was also treated to this beautiful view of the early morning sun on the river.
I am reminded, once again, how lucky I am to be alive and mobile enough to make this camping trip throughout our beautiful west. No matter what your politics are, this is still and will always be a country to be proud of and to do the right thing for.
I was also sad to leave Debbie and her family. Never sure when or if we will see them again. Our girls trip to San Felipe this year had to be cancelled of course. We had made a plan to postpone until October but it doesn't look too good for that either. So this was a great opportunity to visit my good friend Debbie. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a soon end to this pandemic. We have all had enough.
We are now in Libby, MT for the night to gas up, unload our holding tanks, load up our water tank and check in with everyone. Tomorrow we move on to Lake Koocanusa (notice the mention of both countries) to dry camp. Still hoping to meet up with our friends Jan and Craig Rowe.
No hurry to get home, I hear that smoke from CA fires have settled in the great basin. I am so saddened by all of these fires. So many people, animals and trees who have lost everything in the past 3 weeks.
What else can happen to us?
Great timing for your trip the smoke has been really bad, thunder & lightning this morning .
ReplyDeleteI just feel so bad for all the people in CA that have lost their homes and the thousands of firefighters working on all of this
